Wham - Last Christmas

Last Christmas
I gave you my heart
But the very next day
you gave it away
This year
To save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special

Last Christmas
I gave you my heart
But the very next day
you gave it away (you gave it away)
This year
To save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special (special)

Once bitten and twice shy
I keep my distance
But you still catch my eye
Tell me baby
Do you recognize me?
Well
It's been a year
It doesn't surprise me

(Happy Christmas)

I wrapped it up and sent it
With a note saying "I love you"
I meant it
Now I know what a fool I've been
But if you kissed me now
I know you'd fool me again

Last Christmas
I gave you my heart
But the very next day
you gave it away (you gave it away)
This year
To save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special (special)

Last Christmas
I gave you my heart
But the very next day
you gave it away
This year
To save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special (special)

A crowded room
Friends with tired eyes
I'm hiding from you
And your soul of ice
My God I thought you were
Someone to rely on Me?
I guess I was a shoulder to cry on

A face on a lover with a fire in his heart
A man undercover but you tore me apart
Now I've found a real love you'll never fool me again

Last Christmas
I gave you my heart
But the very next day
you gave it away (you gave it away)
This year
To save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special (special)

Last Christmas
I gave you my heart
But the very next day
you gave it away
This year
To save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special

A face on a lover with a fire in his heart
A man under cover but you tore him apart
Maybe next year I'll give it to someone
I'll give it to someone special.
(Special. Someone. Someone.)
I'll give it to someone...

to keep one's distance - trzymać dystans
to catch someone's eye - przyciągać uwagę
to wrap sth up - zakończyć coś
a shoulder to cry on - pocieszyciel, osoba, na którą zawsze można liczyć
to tear someone apart - krzywdzić kogoś, powodować ból (np. przy rozstaniu)

Bryan Adams - Christmas Time

We waited all through the year
For the day to appear
When we could be together in harmony

You know the time will come
Peace on earth for everyone
And we can live forever in a world where we are free
Let it shine for you and me

There's something about Christmas Time
Something about Christmas
That makes you wish it was Christmas every day

To see the joy in the children's eyes
The way that the old folks smile
Says that Christmas will never go away

We're all as one tonight
Makes no difference if you're black or white
Cause we can sing together in harmony

I know it's not too late
The world would be a better place
If we can keep the spirit more than one day in the year
Send a message loud and clear

There's something about Christmas Time
Something about Christmas
That makes you wish it was Christmas every day

To see the joy in the children's eyes
The way that the old folks smile
Says that Christmas will never go away

It's the time of year when everyone's together
We'll celebrate here on Christmas day
When the ones you love are there
You can feel the magic in the air- you know it's everywhere

There's something about Christmas time

Something about Christmas time (x4)
That makes you wish it was Christmas every day

To see the joy in the children's eyes
The way that the old folks smile
Says that Christmas will never go away

There's something about Christmas Time
Something about Christmas
That makes you wish it was Christmas every day

To see the joy in the children's eyes
The way that the old folks smile
Says that Christmas will never go away
Please tell me Christmas will never go away

it makes no difference - to bez znaczenia, nie robi różnicy
to keep the spirit - nie tracić ducha, trzymać się

Chris Rea - Driving Home For Christmas

I'm driving home for Christmas

Oh, I can't wait to see those faces

I'm driving home for Christmas, yea

Well I'm moving down that line

And it's been so long

But I will be there
I sing this song
To pass the time away
Driving in my car
Driving home for Christmas

It's gonna take some time
But I'll get there
Top to toe in tail-lights
Oh, I got red lights all around
But soon there'll be a freeway
Get my feet on holy ground

So I sing for you
Though you can't hear me
When I get through
And feel you near me
I am driving home for Christmas
Driving home for Christmas
With a thousand memories

I take look at the driver next to me
He's just the same
Just the same

Top to toe in tail-lights
Oh, I got red lights all around
I'm driving home for Christmas, yea
Get my feet on holy ground
So I sing for you
Though you can't hear me
When I get trough
And feel you near me
Driving in my car
Driving home for Christmas
Driving home for Christmas
With a thousand memories

I take look at the driver next to me
He's just the same
He's driving home, driving home
Driving home for Christmas

down the line - za jakiś czas
from top to toe - od stóp do głów, całość

Ostatnia piosenka, już bez tekstu i idiomów (i nawet już nie całkiem po angielsku :D) w ramach życzeń ode mnie - autorki Specyfiki Języka, dla wszystkich Czytelników. Niech te święta będą radosne, leniwe i spokojne. Miłego odpoczynku, Feliz Navidad! :)
